SEO is used to get your website in general, ranking highly in Search Engines.

I say your website in general, since a good SEO will make sure that ever page on your website, would attract visitors in for different products and or services, since it's a well know fact that people searching for the same product or service will probably all search Google using different search phrases.

EG. I'm just starting with the optimization a website for a Dentist in Chula Vista, San Diego, CA but how would you search for his website? Or what would you put in the search engine to search. There are literally hundreds of ways it could be searched for. Think about it for a minute.

Ok, thats 15 different ways, but hang on, what abut if you wanted a specific type of dentist like a family dentist Chula Vista, or a cosmetic dentist Chula Vista when you think about it, there are thousands and thousands of ways to search for a dentist...
and if you actually searched for all these phrases, one after the other, you would often find that the results would be different, depending on the words used, what order they were in, etc.

An SEO wannabe, which most people that say they can do optimization are, would only optimize your front or home page, so maybe your website would rank well for just 1 or 2 phrase, however a good SEO would get other pages working for you. Then SEO Guru's like me, I have every single page working for your website, each for different phrases, and use many techniques to make that happen.

Google Adwords
Google Adwords do have their place, I often suggest them when you have a new product or service you are offering and want people to know about it today, or for very very popular search phrases.
With a new Product or Service it could take a month or so to have the new page about it rank in the Search Engines highly enough to get clicks, or with very popular phrases, having google adwords, while I work on getting that page to rank higher.

It isn't hard, just time consuming, but since I'm disabled I spend my whole day at the computer, so I have the time and know what and how to get a website to work. That's why our Website Design San Diego website advertises Websites that Work.

We used to just build websites, but as I learn more about search engines, and how a website that wasn't Search Engine Optimized, it meant that the site owner had to pay so much money to have the website even found, eg. various types of printed advertising, online advertising, that I decided that it was better to optimise it as part of the price of the website, some clients decide not to have their sites worked on by me, but as yet, there hasn't been a client, that hasn't come back within a year, and asked me to do it.

Dentist in Chula Vista, SD Loves Results of My SEO Services. I'm doing SEO on few websites for a San Diego Dentist, it's part of a large project doing 4 different websites.
This dentist has had a website for 3 years, and never had a patient from come to him after seeing his site. Ok, so Kym head of graphic design and website development from CANZ Design rebuilt the site… and is still working on it… but almost done. I the SEO, have highly targeted a few keywords, the procedures that he loves doing including Braces and Implants. So far they have had only 703 visitors to the site since it opened, on the 24^th of January, honestly I have to admit, probably about 100 of those visitors have been Me, working on the SEO on the CMS that runs the site… J
The site opened on January 24th '09.
January: No new patients in the first 7 days, no big surprises there… February:– 2 new patients one for Braces, and one for Emergency Weekend Dental Care in San Diego. March: 1^st – 15^th
 
Wait for it… Drum roll Please, only 199 visitors in the first 15 days of March 09 …. not that impressive huh.... ok, undrum roll that… Click this Link, the picture won't display well in this blog. http://seobycanz.com/images/Dentist-march-1-15.JPG What is Impressive, and a really big drum roll now, is the number of new patients, this San Diego Dentist Received, via his website… 12 new patients. 

Update: 16 visitors became patients in the month of March, that's 4% of visitors all visitors to his site for March, became new patients. That's pretty darn impressive I think,

Finding the time to do your own website marketing. 

A post I made on a forum, I thought was worth sharing... one of the members there said this

My biggest question is - who has the time for all this 'online marketing'? While I have added my details to common directories, try to post at least 1 blog per month and follow the odd chat ... I really struggle to find time to spend hours researching 'the latest'. Tips appreciated!

Blogging, Tweeting, Facebooking, Linkedin, and other social media sites are all just ways of getting potential clients to your blog and then website, if you don't want to pay someone like me to market your business online, then you have to do it by trial and error, and quote frankly wasting hundreds of hours trying things out, that don't work, I've done that years ago, and now know the tricks of the trade.

And I'm still trying out new things, to see what works and what doesn't, but generally, some things work for some businesses other don't, so I have to know how each thing works, so I can use the right combination for each business I work with.

I guess most of you know, I'm and SEO, I make websites findable in search engines, and more importantly make it findable for that websites potential customers.

Anyone can get people to their website, that's easy, and what most people that say they are search engine optimisation or website optimisation experts  do, they get people to your website, the trick is to get people ready to click the paypal button, write an email, pick up the phone and call you, that's what Pro SEO's do.

EG: I have a client who is a dentist, and while he only gets about 400 visitors a month to his website, which is lousy, but read on...

I've been working on his sites since the end of Jan 09, in Feb he got 2 new patients, and in March another 14  new patients, and now he's averaging between 12 and 19 new patients every month coming directly from the site I optimize. You do the math at the % of visitors that view his website that become patients, it fantastic. Better than any other form of advertising.

He made a healthy investment in SEO of almost $35,000 USD, he said at his had a ROI in 4 months. We are only at month 7 of a 14 month SEO campaign.

This dentist said to me from the start, that he's a dentist, and doesn't want to know what I do, just make his website work. He actually asked me a few months back to stop optimizing his site, because he had to get a larger office and hire another dentist and staff to handle all the new patients he was getting.

On the other hand I had a new client a few years getting a respectable 8-10,000 visitors a month, and not getting any sales to speak of. that site now gets around 12,000 visitors, and the owner makes an income enough to live on, she could do a whole lot better, but she's not willing to do the work herself or pay me to, she seems happy with getting a few hundred a week.

My point is, to have an online business, and have that business be successful, you either have to pay someone like me, or do the work yourself making the investment in your business in sweat equity.  Just ask Frances from Breastmates.co.nz about investing sweat equity in a business, she is a inspiration I can tell you, that woman is a dynamo and it's paying off.

I wrote an article years ago, before social media was the in thing, setting out the investment you must make in your websites to just get it optimised, and doing well in search engines, you might find it interesting.

If you add say 2 hours a night to that articles suggestions, for social media-ing, not counting the time to find what best works for you, you'd still on the right track within a year or so.

I must write and update to that article, because things have changed so much, in 5 years.

Did you at first build your website in frontpage?
Did you build your website yourself, not sure of it's value to your business?
Is your website out of date? is your website built in html, and now it's grown so much, and your business has grown, that you need an easier/quicker way to make changes?
Rebuilding or redesigning a website can be a big decision, with many questions?

I'll write some questions I have been asked out and give replies, as often people might be worried about things that aren't a problem.  

Do I get to keep the same domain name if I rebuild my site? YES Can I stay with the same Host if I rebuild my website? YES I want to move my website host, can you do that? YES if you are sick of your old webhost, or think you are paying too much for web hosting, we can suggest another one if you are paying more than $10 a month where you could host as many websites and blogs as you like, for $9.95 a month or $100 a year. We are very experienced at moving websites, you website will not be offline at all, one second it will be your old website the next it will be your new one. You can of course find your own new webhost if you would like.  

Will all the page names stay the same? YES if you would like them too, often with an older site links have been made to a site and to a specific page name, and you don't want to lose that link, so keeping old page names is important. If on the other hand you are wanting to make your site more search engine friendly, page names can be changed, and instant redirects can be set up.  

Will old links from forums and blogs etc still work? YES Will my site be offline while you rebuild? NO We rebuild the site on our host usually, and when it's all done, we move it to your host, so the longest your site will be down in a few minutes with the change over.  

Can you add a blog to my website? Sure, that's easy, and wouldn't even charge you to do it, we do charge a fee to make the blog look like your website, if you want to.  

I already have a blog can you add it to my website? YES. It's usually quite easy to do?  

Can you make new pages or change the text/pictures on exsisting pages while you are redesigning? YES No problem at all. The words and pictures on my website are good, I just want new look will you do that? YES Often people like the same wording, maybe in a different font and the layout of pictures and wording changed.  

The wording on my website is terrible, I want professional words written, can you organise that? YES, we have two content writters we work with, one write excellent sales copy, the other writes fine articles and informational type webpages, but writer write on any subject required(Bothe writers are natural English Speakers)
 
I want a blog, but can't write a good article, can you organize a writer for regular blog posts. YES. The article or informational writer we have would be happy to write and post articles to a blog on a regular basis. At the time of writing this blog post, she is writing for 3 blog owners, a dentist, a realestate agent, both one blog post a week, and a site selling fish bait one short post ever 3-4 days.  

Can you make my blog look like my website? YES... I'd like to start a newsletter, can you add a newsletter program to our site? YES We recommend a newsletter program that is easy to use, and is designed to look like any website, it even stores old newsletters online if you would like.

Well I signed up with Spoke, but it seems you find out after jumping through all their hoops, that the only way to do anything is to pay for it.... Darn, I NEVER pay for anything online, until I see what they really have to offer, there are just too many ripoff places out there, and my feeling is, if you can't even have a few days free full membership, to see whats for offer, then it isn't worth paying for, cause they are hiding something.

Anyway, I wrote a pretty good intro, so thought I would post it here, so you can read a bit more about me and what I so.
